<br />o <br />'::l <br />Q <br />---- <br />N <br />.::.. <br /> <br />:~; . <br /> <br />-- ARKANSAS -RIVER-AND-TRIBUTARIES-ABOVEHJOHWMARTIN DAM, -COLORADO. --' -- ~:' - ' <br /> <br />A $42,900,000 project to improve the Arkansas River and tributaries above John <br /> <br />Martin Dam in Colorado was recommended by the Board, <br /> <br />The project would include cha'nnel and levee construction on the Arkansas <br /> <br />River from Brewster to Florence; local flood protection works at Florence, Port- <br /> <br />land, Pueblo (Dry Creek), and La Junta (King and Anderson Arroyos); and Foun- <br /> <br />tain Dam and Lake just upstream from Pueblo on Fountain Creek for flood control <br /> <br />and recreation and fish and wildlife enhancement. <br /> <br /> <br />The proposed Arkansas River channelization from Pueblo to Las Animas has <br /> <br />been deleted from the recommended plan pending a restudy of structural and <br /> <br />non-structural alterna tives plus an evaluation of the environmental impact of <br /> <br />such improvements.
