"

,

November 11, 1974
Page 2

assessment activites and other ongoing programs of the Commission.

The requested budget is outlined in Table 3 of the Memorandum of Agreement.
Commission members have emphasized that for a vast region like the Missouri
Region, comprising about one-sixth the land area of the contiguous U.S., and for
'an important program like the 1975 Assessment, the present WRC allocated funding
to MRBC is not adequate. Even the requested $285,000 does not represent the
total expenditures of mantime and monies that must be spent within this region
to carry out MRBC assessment responsibilities. The Commission will have to rely
heavily on contributed services of many individuals and agencies (state and fed-
eral) to complete the job.

I trust that the attached Memorandum of Agreement will be expediously pro-
cessed and signed so the MRBC can proceed with implementing the provisions of
the MOA. If there are any questions concerning the Memorandum of Agreement, I
suggest that these be handled by telephone contacts with the t1RBC Director of
Planning and his staff.

Sincerely,

~~erger

Cha i rman

cc: Members and Alternates, MRBC
Director of Planning
Director of Administration

~

1~ft\.
