The plant is scheduled to be completed <br />about the middle of January 1941. As of June 30, 1940 the con- <br />struction was about 55 per cent completed. <br />To dispose of the spent brine used for regeneration of the zeolite <br />in the softeners, a precast concrete waste water line is to be con- <br />structed from the softening plant to a point near Whittier, where <br />it will connect to the outfall sewer, which serves several Los <br />Angeles County sanitation districts, for discharge into the ocean. <br />As the softening plant is enlarged and the amount of spent brine <br />increases this waste water line may be extended to tidewater. The <br />contract for the initial waste water disposai line was awarded April <br />12, 1940 to the United Concrete Pipe Corporation of Los Angeles. <br />The manufacture of the pipe was started on J line 20, 1940 at the <br />contractor's Baldwin Park yard. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />oil <br /> <br />j <br />
