RELATeD STATUTES AND FEDe~L LAWS <br /> <br />Art ic1e 1 <br />33-1-101-General Provisions <br /> <br />The Colorado Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation is charged the respon- <br />sibility for.. .preserving, protecting, enhancing, and managing the natural, <br />scenic, scientific, an.d outdoor recreation areas of the state...for the use, <br />benefit, 'and enjoyment of people.. .and visitors of this state. The Division <br />also provides...a comprehensive program of outdoor recreation in order to <br />offer the greatest variety of outdoor recreation opportunity to the people <br />of this state through...a continuous operation of planning, acquisition, and <br />development. <br /> <br />Art icle 2 <br />33-2-108-Federal Cooperation <br /> <br />The Division must also administer the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act <br />of 1965. This requires the Division to enter into contracts with the United <br />Statcs...for the purposes of the. ..Fund Act of 1965 Rnd.. .to keep financial <br />records.. .to furnish.. .necessary.. .reports.. .to prepare., maintain and keep <br />up to date a comprehensive plan for the development.of .the outdoor recreation <br />resources of the ~ate...to receive and disburse federal monies to ca,ry out the <br />purposes of a comprehensive plan_..to undertake projects for the develo~ment <br />of the state resources for outdoor recreation.. .(and) to enter into <br />and administer agreements. ..for the planning, acquisition, and development of <br />projects involving participating federal aid funds.. <br /> <br />Article 42 <br />33-42-l02-Recreational Trails <br /> <br />It is also declared that.. .in order to provide for the greatly increasing <br />needs of a rapidly expanding Colorado population, for public access.. .travel... <br />enjoyment and appreciation of the out-of-doors areas of Colorado...for the. <br />~ons~rv.]tion development and the use of the natural resources...it is...t~ <br />be the public policy of this state. ..to increase the accessibility and <br />2ncourage the use of such natural resources by...residents...and by non- <br />residents; to provide opportunity for...persons visiting and utilizing the <br />natural resources of this state: t.o .encourage an increase in riding, <br />hiking, bicycling, and other...ac~ivities.. .for the improvement of the health <br />and welfare of the people; and to provide for the needs of specialized recrea- <br />tional motor vehicles... <br /> <br />19 <br />
