This loss increases the <br />difficulty of pro~cing the food and fiber the nation depends on. The <br />education process by the SCB and SCD is to educate the people of Colorado <br />as to the limits' of"...the natural resources of the state. <br /> <br />Program Title: Clean Water Act (208) <br /> <br />Target Public: Governor's 208 Advisory Committee <br /> <br />['urpose: Collect, assemble, and interpret data pertaining to rural land <br />use ~lnd treatment; identify alternative solutions where water quality <br />problems exist in rural areas and select best management practices. SCB <br />I~s been designated by the Governor as the lead agency having responsibility <br />for the 208 program. <br /> <br />Program Titl~: I~cs~)urce Conservation Act <br /> <br />Target Public: SCS and general public <br /> <br />Purpose: The soil conservation districts were given the responsibility <br />uf cunducting D series of ~earings for the public. The public was asked <br />to evaluate the present conservation concerns and the conservation programs <br />set up to address these concerns. This is very important as the comments <br />received will be used to set the guidelines for future conservation <br />programs. The evaluation process will continue for the next five years. <br />Districts will continue to provide input to align the conservation programs <br />with needs across the state. <br /> <br />Program Title: H.B. 1041 - Land Use <br /> <br />Target Public: County Commissioners and County Planning Commissions <br /> <br />Purpu,Sc: scn's .:lre given re.sponsibility of designating certain areas <br />of state interest. These areas designated are in regard to resource data <br />inventories, soils, soil suitability, erosion and sedimentation, floodwater <br />problems and watershed protection. The information gathered is available <br />E0r land use planners in the decisions made for local counties. <br /> <br />Program Titl~: Subdivisiun Review (SB J5) <br /> <br />T3rget Public: County Commissioners <br /> <br />PUr\lOse: SeD's have the responsibility to review all subdivision plats <br />submitted to the county cormnissioners for approval. The SeD's make comments <br />~nd r~comm~nd~ti0ns to the counties in regard to existing or potential wind <br />or water ~rosion problems. The comments enable the commissioners to proceed <br />with a sound detision in regard to the possibility of a planned subdivision. <br /> <br />17 <br />
