Entire population uf the state who use water for domestic <br />agricultural, municipal, or industrial purposes; in other words, every <br />person in the state. ....\ <br /> <br />Purpose: To administer the seventeen million five hundred thousand <br />(17,500,000) acre feet of surface water through the more than twenty <br />thousand (20,000) structures to serve the agricultural, industrial, recrea- <br />tional, and municipal needs of the entire state population according to <br />court decree and in compliance with state responsibilities to interstate <br />compact commitments and federal court decrees. In conjunctive use with this <br />surface water administer high yield wells governed by rules and regulations, <br />and plans for augmentation. <br /> <br />Maintain diversion records for all ditches, canals, and reservoirs in the state. <br /> <br />Assist the dam and well inspection branches with preliminary inspection to <br />alert the appropriate branch regarding obvious problems relating to dam safety <br />or well completions. <br /> <br />In performance of these duties, water commissioners travel in excess of one- <br />million one hundred thousand (l,lOO,OOO) miles in private vehicles. <br /> <br />Program Title: Engineerin~ <br /> <br />Target Public: All owners of dams, livestock water tank or erosion control <br />dams. All legislators, lawyers, water users or potential water users who need <br />data from the Water Data Bank. Any person needing information on.stream flow <br />for any stream in the state. Any person concerned with subdivision development <br />or mined land reclamation, any person involved in litigation involving the <br />Division of Water Resources. <br /> <br />Purpose: Responsible for review and recommendation for approval of plans and <br />specificatiuns fur dams Jnd annuJl inspection of approximately 1000 high and <br />mediulll hazard dams f{)r determination of safe storage level. <br /> <br />~bintenance of water J:it'l bank which contains over one million (1,000,000) <br />recurds of various types and nearly one hundred thousand (lOO,OOO) well files. <br />Provide facilities and support for public review of these records and process <br />administrative and technical information for entry into the Data Bank on a <br />c.urrent basis. <br /> <br />Review water supply plans for determination of water requirements; as well as <br />the effect of proposed mined land reclamation project on existing water rights. <br />Review federal assistance water related projects proposed under clearinghouse <br />(A-95) plans. Review environmental impact statements prepared for federally <br />funded or approved projects. <br /> <br />7 <br />
