Modifications To Previous Analysis <br /> <br />The revised hydrosalinity analysis undertaken as part of the <br />Study involved the following modifications to information ' <br />originally presented in Appendix B (Hydrosalinity) of the FR/EIS: <br /> <br />1. Appendix B displayed the seepage and salinity <br />reduction effects of the LGBU based on a 6 month period <br />allocated to irrigation use and another 6 months <br />allocated to winter water use. Upon review of'the <br />UVWUA's diversion records, the 'length of the period for <br />calculating the effects of lining/piping was changed to <br />7 months to correspond to diversions which normally <br />begin by April 1 and end on or after November 1. This <br />is believed to give a more accurate representaiion of - <br />the actual project cond~tions and the,relative value,of <br />lining versus the removal of winter water. 'The effects <br />of the winter water component are now based on removing <br />water from the system over a 5 month winter period. <br /> <br />2. Seepage volumes were modified to reflect the use of <br />piped laterals, pvc membrane canal lining, and some <br />cases of reduced system lengths due to shortened <br />alignments and/or the combining of some laterals (see ~ <br />section II-B.). <br /> <br />3. The five deferred canal system components were <br />broken into 5 individual canal components and 5, <br />individual lateral components. Seepage reductions and <br />resulting salinity reductions were computed for each of <br />these 10 components. ' ' <br /> <br />4. Analyses in Appendix B were based on 232 miles of <br />canals and laterals rather than the 252 miles in <br />existence on the east side of the River. The revised <br />analysis used 252 miles. <br /> <br />5. Appendix B analyses also were based on the <br />assumption that winter water was carried in all canals <br />and laterals on the east side. Current information <br />indicates that only 407 miles of the total 552 ~iles of <br />canals and laterals currently carry winter water. The <br />revised analysis assumes winter water is carried in 160 <br />miles on the east side of the river and 247 miles on <br />the west side. <br /> <br />Results of the revised analysis show a shift of salinity <br />reduction benefits from the winter Water component to the east <br />side lining and piping components.
