<br />N <br />00 <br />W <br />-,] <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />. , <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the conferees of <br />California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah <br />and Wyoming that: . <br /> <br />"1) a salinity policy be adopted for the Colorado <br />River system that would have as its objective the <br />maintenance of salinity concentrations at or below <br />levels presently found in the lower mai~ stem; <br /> <br />"2) in implementing the salhity policy objective <br />for the Colorado River system the salinity problem be <br />treated as a basinwide problem that needs to be solved <br />to maintain Lower Basin water salinity at or below <br />present levels while the Upper Basin continues to <br />develop its compact-apportioned water, recognizing <br />that Salinity levels may rise until control measures <br />are made effective;" <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />"7) the adoption of ntUnerical criteria be deferred <br />until the potential ~ffectiveness of Colorado River <br />salinity control measures is better known;" <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />The Conferees, official representatives of the seven Basin <br />States and the Environmental Protection Agency, at the reconvened <br />seventh seSsion on April 26-27, 1972, unanimously adopted conclusions <br />and recommendations pertaining to the salinity problems of the <br />Colorado River. These were in lieu of numeric criteria which were <br />still thought to be premature. The conclusions and recommendations <br />which were approved by Mr. William D. Ruchelshaus, Administrator <br />of the Environmental Protection Agency ~n June 1972, also are shown <br />in Appendix C.
