<br />the adoption and enforcement of salinity criteria to hold the maximum <br />mean monthly concentration of total dissolved solids at Imperlal <br />Dam at 1000 mg/l -- approximately the maximum mean monthly con- <br />~ centration then of record. <br />00 <br />~ The 1971 EPA report was the major subject of the Seventh Session <br />~ <br />of the Conference in the Matter of Pollution of the Interstate Waters <br />of the Colorado River, which was held under provisions of Section 10 <br />of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. <br /> <br />Seventh Session of the Conference in the <br />Matter or Pollution or the Interstate <br />Waters or the Colorado R~ver and Its Tributaries <br /> <br />During the seventh session of the Conference which was held on <br />February 15-17, 1972, and was continued and concluded on April 26-21, <br />1972, and at which all seven Basin States participated, testimony <br />was presented by federal, state and local officials. <br />Commissioner of Reclamation Ell.is Armstrong, representing the <br />Secretary of the Interior, stated: <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />"The Department of the Interior is pledged to pursue <br />a program of salinity control for the benefit of all <br />citizens to whom the Colorado River is a lifeline. <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />"In recognition of the effects of the proposed <br />developments on the salinity of the river, the Congress <br />specifically directed the Secretary of the Interior <br />to make water quality studies and to devise plans for <br />improvement...." <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />*** <br /> <br />At the February 17, 1972 Session, the Conferees representing <br />the seven states unanimously concurred in the adoption of a resolution <br />presented to the Conference.
