'Johnson, California, chairman of the <br /> <br />Sub-committee on Irrigation and Reclamation, will conduct the <br /> <br />hearing. Other Congressman who will.be present for the hearing <br /> <br />are: \VaYRs N. Aspinall, of. the 4th Colorado District, in which <br /> <br />the project is located; Morris K.Udall, of ~rizona; Richard <br /> <br />\Vhite, of Texas; and James A.. McClure of Idaho. Sidney L. MeFar- <br /> <br />land, Staff Director for the House Committee on Interior and In- <br /> <br />sular Affairs, is in charge of arrangements. <br /> <br />Located about seven miles west of Fort Morgan and just up- <br /> <br />~tream from the ~~nfluence of Bijou Creek and the South Platte, <br /> <br />the proposed dam will be 146 feet high and 22,120 feet long. The <br /> <br />crest of the dam, at elevation 4453.0, will serve as the river <br /> <br />crossing for State Highway 144. Included in iegislation for the <br /> <br />proposed project is a provision to divert Bijou floods into the <br /> <br />., <br />" <br />, <br />, <br /> <br />reservoir, which will have a total storage capacit~ of 1,548,558 <br /> <br />acre-feet. <br /> <br />:: <br /> <br />Announcement has been made by McFarland that the hearing will <br /> <br />,! <br /> <br />begin at 9: 30 a.m., Monday, No.vember 25.. and will continue until <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />all local witnesses I\ave had a chance to appear.
