Des1lting works at Imperial <br /> <br />Dam return river sedilllents to the river below the dam. <br /> <br />Laguna Dam, located abOllt five m11es downstream fram Imperial <br /> <br />Dam, formerly diverted water to the Yuma Project and to the North <br /> <br />Gila Valley Irrigation District, but vas abandoned for diversion <br /> <br />purposes in December 1954. Since that time, it has served to pro- <br /> <br />tect the downstream toe of Imperial Dam and as partial reregulation <br /> <br />for Imperial Dam releases to the river. <br /> <br />Between Laguna Dam. and Morelos Dam IlUBIerous vastev~s and <br /> <br />drains return water to the Colorado River from the !forth Gila Unit, <br /> <br />South Gila Unit, Wellton-Mohawk Division, Reservation Dividon, and <br /> <br />the Yuma Main Canal vaste~. Between Morelos Dam and the Sonora <br /> <br />land boWldary, three vastev~ discharge into the l:l.m1trophe section <br /> <br />of the river from the Valley Division of the Yuma Project. These <br /> <br />are designated as Cooper, ll-m11e and 21-m1le, waste~s. At the <br /> <br />Sonora land boundary near San Luis, Mexican water from the East <br />Main Canal VBStev~ and the Main Drain of the Valley Division <br /> <br />crosses the border to Mexico. Water from the Main Drain is pumped <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />over the border by the BoUJ:lda.ry Pumping Plant. Water from the <br /> <br />East Main Canal vastew~ flove across by gravity.
