~

nf'" 'H'
U l..J .1.- d .) n

.

.

Fontenelle Reservoir, upstream from Flaming Gorge Reservoir, now has 201,000

acre-feet in storage at elevation 6,486 feet. During the remainder of this winter the

reservoir will be drawn to a minimum elevation of about 6,484 feet. During the spring

runoff Fontenelle will fill until June and then recede to about elevation 6,500 feet by

September. With minor modifications the near maximum power releases should provide

an environment for successful geese nesting and hatching along the river downstream

from the dam during late March through early May.

Navajo Reservoir should peak at elevation 6,038 feet with 1,085,000 acre-feet

of live storage by late June 1971. It should slowly recede to elevation 6,010 with

825,000 acre-feet of live storage through the following fall and winter.

The drainage area above Blue Mesa Reservoir received about normal precipitation

from October 1970 through January 1971. With average conditions the reservoir is

expected to reach elevation 7,515 feet with a live storage content of 790,000 acre-

feet. It should recede slowly until elevation 7,440 feet is reached in March 1972.

Morrow Point Reservoir, which is located immediately downstream from Blue Mesa

Dam, will be operated at or near full capacity regardless of the amount of snowmelt

runoff. The reservoir now has 116,000 acre-feet of live storage at elevation 7,158

feet. The reservoir at full storage is at elevation 7,160 feet with a content of 117,000

acre-feet. Both generating units are now on line and producing power at Morrow

Point.

4
