In
1977, only red shiners were caught by McAda et al. (1977) at the
confluence of the Price and Green rivers. Pioneer Environmental
Services (Logan. UT) sampled Grassy trail Creek (a tributary of the Price
River) in 1993 and 1994. Native species caught included bluehead
sucker, flannelmouth sucker, and speckled dace. Nonnative species
caught included red shiner, common carp, fathead minnow, and Utah chub
(Pioneer 1994). These limited surveys did not provide evidence of the
Price River's role in endangered fish recovery. In ~995, BIO/WEST
conducted a five day survey on the Price River from Woodside, UT to the
confluence with the Green River and caught one juvenile Colorado
squawfish (205 mm TL). A total of ten species were caught during this
survey, including the native species flannelmouth sucker and bluehead
sucker lMasslich and Holden 1995). The capture of the juvenile Colorado
squawfish in 1995 has stemmed this proposal. The BIO/WEST survey was
limited to one trip; a systematic survey of the Price River is necessary
to better determine the entire fish community and this rivers role in
endangered fish recovery. We propose a more extensive survey designed
to look for adult, juvenile, and age-O endangered fishes to determine if
