<br />Coordinate Reservoirs Draft News Release <br /> <br />January 1997 For Immediate Release <br /> <br />The Coordinated Reservoirs Work Group, established as part ofthe Recovery Program for <br /> <br /> <br />Endangered Fish Species in the Upper Colorado River Basin (Recovery Program), plans to <br /> <br /> <br />hold three public meetings in February to inform the public of an upcoming program which <br /> <br /> <br />will to attempt of coordinate voluntary reservoir bypasses throughout the upper Colorado River <br /> <br /> <br />basin above Grand Junction to benefit the endangered Colorado fishes and their habitat. These <br /> <br /> <br />meetings will be held to inform the public about the Recovery Program, Recovery <br /> <br /> <br />Implementation Program Recovery Action Plan (RlPRAP) activities, coordinated reservoir <br /> <br /> <br />operations and the planned bypass flows, and the coordinated reservoir operations process. <br /> <br />The meetings will be held as follows. <br /> <br />Silverthorn 9:30 am Feb 20,1997 Silverthorn Town Hall <br />Glenwood Springs 3:00 pm February 20 Hotel Colorado <br />Grand Junction 8:00 pm February 20 Ramada Inn <br /> <br />COORDINATION PROCESS DESCRIPTION <br /> <br /> <br />Establishment of Coordination Committee <br /> <br /> <br />A Coordination Committee has been established to provide a forum to consider and plan for the <br /> <br /> <br />annual coordination of reservoir operations, The committee is currently composed of <br /> <br /> <br />representatives from each of the participating reservoir owner/operators, the Recovery Program, <br /> <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife Service, National Weather Service, Bureau of Reclamation, Colorado Water <br /> <br /> <br />Conservation Board, Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Colorado Division of Water <br /> <br /> <br />Resources -- Division 5 Engineer's Office. As other entities who may contribute to the process <br /> <br /> <br />are identified they may be added to the committee. The following five steps have been identified <br /> <br /> <br />as key elements for implementation of the Coordinated Reservoirs Program, <br /> <br />1. Characterization of Run-off Year <br />
