<br />SYNOPSIS <br /> <br />communities would be constructed and financed by local interests. The <br />existing municipal distribution system in the Vernal area would be used <br />to distribute the additional municipal water. Necessary extensions <br />would be constructed by local interests. In the Bonneville Basin muni- <br />cipal water would be delivered at turnouts from principal project works. <br />Additional facilities for treatment and distribution of the water would <br />be provided by the water users. <br /> <br />Transmission lines for delivery of project power would be construc- <br />ted to Salt Lake City on the north and to Manti on the south. <br /> <br />Facilit~es would be constructed for development of fish and wildlife, <br />recreation, and forest resources in general as recommended in accompanying <br />reports of the Fish and Wildlife, National Park, and Forest Services. <br /> <br />Construction Schedule <br /> <br />Initial phase works would be constructed in steps extending over <br />a period of about 16 years. Thus irrigation development would be under- <br />taken at different times in 13 areas or blocks. First features con- <br />structed would include the portion of the Strawberry aqueduct from the <br />West Fork of the Duchesne River to the Strawberry Reservoir. The initial <br />program also would include construction of the Vat, Currant Creek, Bates, <br />Hobble Cret;k, Round Knoll, Front, Upalco, and Stanaker Dams, enlargement <br />of the Strawberry tunnel, construction of the Old West power plant, and <br />improvement of the Jordan River channel. Construction WQlld next be <br />undertaken on the Soldier Creek, Starvation, Upper Stillwater, and Hanna <br />Dams, the Strawberry aqueduct from the West Fork of the Duchesne River <br />to Rock Creek, initial portions of the Wasatch aqueduct, Starvation <br />Feeder Canal, Sixth Water aqueduct, Hamnock power plant, and transmission <br />lines. Last initial phase features to be constructed would be the <br />Castilla and Tanner power plants, Tanner Diversion Dam, Mona-Nephi Canal, <br />Monks Hollow and Mona Dams, Goosenest ReservOir, Provo Bay Developnent, <br />and Elberta Service Pipe and Canal. <br /> <br />Effect on Existing Facilities <br /> <br />The operation of various existing facilities would require modifi- <br />cation for correlation with the construction and operation of works <br />planned for the Central Utah project. Among the principal features in <br />the Bonneville Basin affected by the initial phase would be the Straw- <br />berry Reservoir outlet tunnel, canals, and power plants of the Strawberry <br />Valley project; Deer Creek Reservoir, Provo Reservoir Canal, and Salt <br />Lake aqueduct of the Provo River project; Utah Lake; and Mona Reservoir. <br />Principal facilities in the Uinta Basin similarly affected would include <br />Strawberry Reservoir of the Strawberry Valley project, Moon LaJc,e and <br />Midview Reservoirs and canals of the Moon Lake project, works of the <br /> <br />10 <br />
