Should any archeological resources be encountered during <br /> <br />borrow operations, these sites will be protected until all si~nificant <br /> <br />materials are sslvaged. <br /> <br />Those sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places and <br /> <br /> <br />in the National Registry of Natural Landmarks, and those listed by the <br /> <br /> <br />State Historical Society of Colorado, may be affected to the extent <br /> <br />that they may receive an increase in visitation as a result of 1ake- <br /> <br />generated interest. Those sites proposed for National Register status <br /> <br />by Mr. Ireland may also receive sn incresse in visitor pressure. If <br /> <br />these sites are declared as historically significant, or even if they <br /> <br />are not, measurea, e.g., informative and interpretive signs, to insure <br /> <br />their aafety for the benefit of present and future studies and enjoy- <br />ment should be taken. <br /> <br />Any historical values that the old mining community of Sopris <br /> <br /> <br />may have had, e.g., features and reflections of the early coal mining <br /> <br /> <br />industry, will have been irretrievably lost due to the demolition of <br /> <br />the town. <br /> <br />7. Effect of the Prolect (including water storage) on <br /> <br /> <br />Geological Features. The Trinidad Lake Project is expected to <br /> <br /> <br />have very little, if any, effect on the geological features in the <br /> <br />area. Comments are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Faulting: As mentioned previously, evidence of fault- <br /> <br /> <br />ing which has occurred in the project area indicates there has been no <br /> <br />iiior displacement. <br /> <br />Also, there is no known evidence that any displacement <br /> <br />IV-IO <br />
