Recreational Development and ManaRement. Initial recreational <br /> <br />development of Trinidad Lake will be by the Corps of Engineers and <br />will consist of two public-use areas, Trinidad and Carpios Recreation <br />Areas, both located on the north side of the lake. Highway access <br />to these areas will be via Colorado State Highway 12 from Trinidad <br />or by State Secondary Road 238 from the 1-25 Starkville exit south <br />of Trinidad. Recreation facilities to be offered include picnicking <br />and camping facilities; boat launching ramps; overlook shelters; group <br />shelters; play areas; water-borne, vsult toilet, and trailer-dump <br />sanitation facilities; and possibly a concessions facility. Swimming, <br />boating, fishing, and sightseeing opportunities will be available <br />on the lake. The Levsa Canyon Area, located west and adjacent to <br />the Carpios Recreation Area, will be reserved for future expansion. <br />Approximately 365 acres are presently planned for development. <br />Management authority will be the responsibility of the Colorado <br />Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation by standard Recreation <br />Lease Agreement, suitably amended to consider special conditions <br />which may become apparent. It is the present intention of the <br />Division to request inclusion of the entire project, excluding <br />the structural zone, in the lease agreement. <br /> <br />Sewage and solid waste trestment and disposal methods are <br /> <br /> <br />currently in the planning stage.
