A Slln.rr,ary of the find-
ings of the study and the effect of present and anticipated
stream depletion on the basin water supply is discussed under
the heading of SU~~~RY.
For purposes of water supply analysis, the section of
the Basin tributary to the vihite River above the U. S. Geological
Survey Gaging Station located nine miles west of Meeker is dis-
cussed as the upper Division of the basin and the section of the
basin including tributary streams located below the gaging sta-
tion is discussed as the Lower Division of the basin. A ~ap
showing the location and the boundary of the two divisions is
made a part of the report.

Drainage Basin
The ~~ite River Basin is located in northwestern Coio-
rado. The ~hite River is tributary to the Green River with the
confluence located in Utah 35 n,iles west of the Colorado-Utah
State line. The Green River is a tributary of the Colorado with
the confluence located approximately 140 ~iles to the south in
east-central Utah. The land area of the Basin consists of about
3,808 square miles in Colorado and about 158 square miles in Utah.
The White River basin in Colorado encompasses 3.5 percent of the
entire Colorado River Basin above Lee Ferry and 9.8 percent of the
Colorado River drainage basin in the State of Colorado, and 4 per-
cent of the land area of the State of Colorado. It includes por-
tions of Rio Blanco, Garfield and Moffat Counties, and is about
100 miles long in an east-west direction and 60 miles wide in a
north-south direction at maximum section.

-2-

.-,

t "
'" -" _. ,~..:,1/{.
