Until recently, the Service considered the species extirpated from the
Upper Basin; however, a recently collected specimen which exhibits many
bony tail characteristics could indicate a small, extant population (Kaeding
et al. 1986). It is thought that, should this species persist in the Colorado
River, the preferred habitat would be in the larger rivlr reaches.

Critical Habitat

Critical habitat has been designated within the bony tail's historical range in
the following sections of the Upper Basin (59 F.R. 13374). Those sections of
critical habitat which will be affected by this project are preceded by an
asterisk (*).

Colorado. Moffat Countv.
