III. Scenarios

A. Primary Scenarios

Scenario 1: This scenario generally portrays eHisting conditions and

operations, eHcept that junior hydropower diversions at the Gunninson

Tunnel are assumed.

Irrigation diversiorls through the Gurlrdsc,n Turlflel are

set to historic values and an instream flow of 200 cfs below the Gunnison

I

Tunnel is supported with Blue Mesa storage releases including releases to

make target levels. No direct flow water right priority is assumed for

instream flow purposes~

Scenario 2: Instream flows below the Gunnison Tunnel are protected under

the P&M priority in the amount of 300 cfs, while Blue Mesa storage

releases to support instream flows are made under the eHisting 200 cfs

criterion. As in Scenario 1, Blue Mesa storage releases are made to

support a 200 cfs instream flow whenever Blue Mesa storage is above

I

target. These releases would be made in any case, and would be available

I

to the P&M water right in priority. The P&M water right would then pick

up any other releases above target (not dedicated to the 200 cfs instream

I

flow) and any other unappropriated water below Crystal available in

priority up to 300 cfs. Blue Mesa storage releases may also be made under

I
