This study examines

I

the operation of Blue Mesa to maintain Black Canyon instream flows of 300

cfs and 600 cfs.

Such Blue Mesa operations to maintain higher instream

I

flows should not increase the frequency of calls by existing downstream

divers ions.

I

Calls from the Redlands Power Canal have been very infrequent (7

I

instances over the last 26 years). The records for these calls were

I

compared against the records of flow at the gauge just below the Gunnison

Tunnel to determine whether these calls went past the North Fork of the

I

Gunnison, and up the mainstream into the area of study. The gauged flows

below the Gunnison Tunnel exhibited little, if any, response to the calls

I

I

WBLA, Inc. 1909 Broadway, #3, Boulder, Colorado 80302

I

I
