The additional 7,472 ducks
incidentally produced annually on Alamosa NWR represent approximately 1,288
hunter-days per season.

The 338,400 days of other bird use lost per season will be maintained by the
replacement and improvement of 8,460 acres of wetland habitat.

D. Fishery

The 5,251 pounds of trout production lost in the Blanca WHA will be maintained
with 113.5 acre-feet of artesian water annually. The 113.5 acre-feet of water
will be transferred to Blanca WHA in the transfer of the acquired W. 1/2 sec. 4,
T. 38 N., R. 12 E. with appurtenant artesian water rights.

E. Conveyance Channel Water Management Structures

Conveyance channel turnout structures with a total capacity to deliver 4,500 acre-
feet per year will be provided at selected locations on the Alamosa NWR. TWo
conveyance channel turnout structures with a total capacity of 800 acre-feet per
year will be provided on the Blanca WHA. One turnout structure will be located
on the Blanca WHA on the north edge of the W. 1/2 sec. 4., T. 38 N., R. 12 E.;
the second turnout will be located on southern portion of Blanca \~ near the
existing Ilallard 4 pond.

F. Replacement of Structures

Some irrigation structures may be lost due to conveyance channel construction
through Alamosa NWR. Approximately 4,000 linear feet of existing dikes and
10 waterfowl nesting islands (which provide waterfowl habitat) will no longer be
intensively managed as a result of conveyance channel construction through the
Blanca WHA.

The project water to be used on Blanca WHA to mitigate drawdown pumping effects
resulting from the project should be delivered to these affected lands. To
accomplish this purpose, approximately 3,400 linear feet of pipe lateral,
2,500 linear feet of ditches, and an energy dissipating pipe outlet structure
will be needed to deliver conveyance channel water from the northern turnout to
affected lands. Approximately 4,000 linear feet of dikes, 1,700 linear feet of
ditches, 150 linear feet of pipe lateral, and an energy dissipating pipe outlet
structure will be needed to deliver water to affected lands. Ten duck-nesting
islands will also be provided. Funds to accomplish the construction of the
above structures will be provided.

G. Land and Water Right Acquisition

The west 1/2 sec. 4,T. 38 N., R. 12 E. will be acquired in fee with appurtenant
water rights to replace lands lost by conveyance channel construction, severance

14
