I

,
~

2.

Dig 20 test pits throughout the proposed site and

test the natural soils for permeability and reaction

1
.

to the salt water.

l
,
.

3.

Construct two model ponds as shown in Exhibits 3 and

4. The first pond would be constructed on the sur-

face of the ground: It would be constructed as shown

in Exhibit 3 with an impervious membrane liner, a

gravel drain system, and three feet of clay blanket.

The second pond, as illustrated by Exhibit 4, would

be constructed in the natural soil approximately 20

feet below natural ground surface. Two observation

wells would be installed to monitor the movement and

resulting quality of the water.

4. These test ponds would be operated from June 1, 1983

until June 1, 1984. Water from the spring would be

transported weekly to maintain water in the ponds.

5. Evaporation and seepage would be monitored to develop
design criteria and determine the feasibility of the
project.

OC:25as

P6/Lll

CREAMER AND NOBLE ~N..CONSULTING ENGINEERS
