.

.

Colorado River Basin Hvdrolol!v Workshop

During the May 2002 Board meeting, there was lengthy discussion of the seriousness of the
drought conditions along the Colorado River, and within the Basin; the importance of the timely
implementation of California's Colorado River Water Use Plan, including execution of the
Quantification Settlement Agreement; and the need to better inform the Administration of the
Board's concerns in both of these areas. Included under Tab 5 in your Board folder is a draft outline
for the proposed Colorado River Basin Hydrology Workshop, Currently, the thought is to hold the
workshop at The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's main headquarters building
in downtown Los Angeles. The goal of the workshop is to provide an overview of the following
topics: (I) review the importance of the Colorado River to the State of California; (2) how the river
system is operated and administered; (3) basinwide hydrology and meteorological/climatic outlooks;
(4) basin storage and runoff forecasts; (5) interim surplus guidelines and benefits to California; (6)
status of the Quantification Settlement Agreement (QSA); and (7) potential impacts to California
and Nevada without a signed QSA and the interim surplus guidelines,

If moving forward with such a workshop is acceptable to the Board, the date, time, and
location for the workshop will be finalized and notice of the workshop will be sent to Board
members, the media, and other interested parties,

AGENCY MANAGERS MEETING

The Agency Managers have not met since the last Board meeting.
