This Statement has therefore been prepared by <br /> <br />the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation in compliance <br /> <br />with Section 102(2)(C) of the National Environmental Policy Act <br /> <br />(P.L. 91-190). <br /> <br />GENERAL DESCRIPl'ION OF THE PROPOSED <br />H\JNrINGTON CANYON GENERATING srATION <br /> <br />Utah Power & Light Company has furnished the following data describ- <br /> <br />ing this proposed generating plant. <br /> <br />The plant will be located in Emery County, Utah, approximately 29 <br /> <br />miles by road southwest of Price, Utah, as shown on the location map in <br /> <br />the Appendix. The majority of the land on which the plant is to be con- <br /> <br />structed is owned by the Utah State Division of Fish and Game. A tract <br /> <br />of about 40 acres is under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Manage- <br /> <br />ment. <br /> <br />A small part is privately owned. The Company has a contract with <br /> <br />the Division of Fish and Game to exchange the plantsite la.i:J.d for other <br /> <br />lands. BLM has issued a permit for use of the tract under its jur1sdic- <br /> <br />tion. Arrangements are underway to transfer this tract to the state of <br /> <br />Utah as lieu land, and the Company would then purchase it from the State. <br /> <br /> <br />The upper part of the land required for the reservoir (Electric Lake) is <br /> <br />under Forest Service jurisdiction, and an application for use of this <br /> <br />2 <br />
