The U.S. GeolQgical Survey will measure water levels in wells in the
northern High Pfains of Colorado during a 2-week period, starting
January 5, 197~ The High Plains area to be covered extends from Limon
to the Colorado-Kansas State line and from Julesburg to Holly. About
645 wells will be measured in the 9,500-square-mile area. Many of these
wells have been measured each year since 1964.

The northern High Plains study is being made by the U.S. Geological
Survey in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Natural Resources,
Division of Water Resources, Office of the State Engineer, to provide
information for administering and managing the water resources. T. J.
Major will head the field party measuring wells in the northern High
Plains. Personnel in the field will include S. Ellis, J. Gibbs, T. Giles,
G. Kuhn, J. Martinez, and K. Vaught.

The cooperation of landowners and irrigators in the areas is solicited
and will be appreciated.
