Background: To assure continued flood protection until the flow in the ..Colorado River returns to normal, it may be necessary to operate or maintain a long-term real time monitoring system. It also should be determined what needs will exist for the system once the river returns to normal low flow conditions. Therefore, an analysis of the existing real time monitoring systems should be made and if the requirement exists, a plan designed for addition to, or enhancement of the existing systems. WORK ELEMENT #4 The National Weather Service (DOC) will designate a NWS flash (lood coordinator to work with state (Arizona and California) , county, local and Tribal officials and local radio statjon~ Background: The purpose would be to prepare emergency prepared- ness plans for flash flood events resulting from localiy heavy thunderstorms and lor general widespread heavy rains.
