COLORADO RIVER WATER USERS' ASSOCIATION FIFTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING The Fifteenth Annual Meeting of the Colorado River Water Users' Association was called to order by President R. J. McMullin at the Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 1958. OPENING REMARKS R. J. McMullin, President It is my pleasure to extend a cordial welcome to all of you on the occasion of our 15th annual get-together. As near as I can determine all seven of the Basin States are represented this time and if our Association continues to grow as it has in the past, I don't know whether this conven- tion hall will be adequate for future ses sions. " Your presence is very gratifying and I hope you will find the sessions interesting and informative, and, since we are meeting again in Las Vegas, also rewarding. As usual our organization is honored in having an official repre- sentative of the City of Las Vegas on hand to greet us. At this time I would like to introduce the Honorable C. D. Baker, Mayor of Las Vegas, who has always been willing to interrupt a busy schedule to participate in our opening session. ADDRESS OF WELCOME Honorable C. D. Baker Mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada It is always a pleasure to extend a warm welcome to members of the Colorado River Water Users' Association. As you all know I have been somewhat of a regular attendant at your former meetings and it gives me an opportunity to greet those of you who have attended previous meetings and to welcome all of you to Las Vegas. As an engineer, legislator, ex-Army officer and Mayor of Las Vegas, I am interested in land development and the real estate business and can appreciate the importance of a group such as this as well as the relative importance of research and development of studies of techno- logical things that must be done to make this Southwest Colorado River territory a better place in which to live and to further prepare for what is probably the greatest population growth in the country. - 1 -
