<br />COLORADO RIVER STORAGE PROJECT

<br />The four major power companies whose proposals have been ac-
<br />cepted are: The Pacific Power & Light Co, in Wyoming, Public
<br />Service Co. 0:( Colorado, Public Service Co. of New Mexico, and the
<br />Utah Power & Light Co. An agreement has also been reached with
<br />the CaliforniBi-Pacific Utilities Co., which serves southwestern Utah,
<br />The Colorado River storage project was authorized by the Congress
<br />as a Federal [undertaking by the Bureau of Reclamation to provide
<br />storage and river regulation in the. Upper Basin Colorado River
<br />watershed in i Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and. New Mexico, The
<br />storage projeqt is intended ~o permit the ~pper basin S,tates to meet
<br />downstream compact commItments and stIll make feasIble upstream
<br />water-use projects, identified as participating projects. '
<br />The project will have 11 total installed hydroelectric capacity of
<br />over 1,100,000 kilowatts in, powerplants which will be a part of multi-
<br />purpose dams now under construction on the Colorado River and its
<br />tributaries. i
