<br />The cost of c<lnstructing the project to June 30, 1961, is reflected on
<br />the following attached financial exhibits:

<br />Exhibit A sets forth comparatively the financial condition of the
<br />project at June 30, 1961, and June 30, 1960, The cumulative funds
<br />and other credits available to the project at June 30, 1961, and how
<br />such funds and credits were used or applied are set forth on exhibit B
<br />by storage imits, participating projects, transmission division, and
<br />the advance planning activity, . .
<br />During the 5th fiscal year of the project, which ended June 30,
<br />1961, activities were directed mainly to: (1) Oonstructionwork on the
<br />Flaming Gorge,: Glen Oanyon, Navajo, and Ourecanti storage units;
<br />the Hammond,: Seedskadee, Florida, Smith Fork, Paonia, and the
<br />Vernal unit of the central Utah project; (2) proconstruction activities
<br />on the transmission division; (3) continued advance planning on the
<br />Orystal featureS of the Ourecanti storage unit and on' the central
<br />Utah, Emery Oounty, Florida, LaBarge, Lyman, and silt partici-
<br />pating projects;:and (4) acquisition and construetionof service faeili-
<br />ties, Oosts incrtrred for those aetivities eonstitute the prineipal items
<br />of cost of eonstrueting the projeet to June 30, 1961, and. are sum-
<br />marized as follows:

<br />Oonstruction funds were appropriated in fiseal year 1961 to initiate
<br />construction of the Blue Mesa and Morrow Point features of the
<br />Ourecanti storage project, Further studies and investigations were
<br />necessary on the proposed Orystal Dam an,d powerplant during the
<br />year, and a supplemental report on this feature is seheduled for com-
<br />pletionearly in I962, Oonstruction on the Ourecanti unit began in
<br />fiscal year 1961 On the reloeation of portions ofU,S, Highway 50 to
<br />bypass the Bluei Mesa Reservoir site, Surveys and other precone
<br />struction work.",m be COmpleted for Blue Mesa Dam and the prime
<br />contract for cohs,truction of the dam is scheduled for award in fiscal
<br />year 1962,
