Th@ @ff@ots of the various irrigation praetie@s <br /> <br />on water quality will be determined by measuring <br /> <br />the amount of drainage effluent from each plot as <br /> <br /> <br />well as the types and concentrations of various ions <br /> <br />in it. <br /> <br />b. The effects of various irrigation practices on crop <br /> <br />production,would be found through direct yield <br /> <br />measurements on the plots. <br /> <br />c. The fact that mineral water quality degradation can <br /> <br /> <br />be reduced through improved farm irrigation water <br /> <br /> <br />management will be shown by measured effects of <br /> <br /> <br />irrigation practices on drainage effluent and in- <br /> <br /> <br />creased crop yields, along with increased farm <br /> <br /> <br />profits, which will be calculated. <br /> <br />d. The project will provide for a better understanding <br /> <br /> <br />of salt pickup in the soil profile through the <br /> <br />measurement of salts throughout'the soil profile. <br />e. From the data obtained in this project, recom- <br /> <br />mendations will be made on irrigation practices, <br /> <br />methods, and systems which should be used under <br /> <br />various conditions to minimize water quality de- <br /> <br />gradation, while maintaining a good crop environ- <br /> <br />ment. The recommendations will be made on the <br />
