P. IRJU~IOH WATER DDGBIIDl'1':

Irrigation Water Management is identified as a major
salt reduction component of the proqram. Several actions
have been taken, in an effort to support and increase our
IWM quides.
1. Atmometers and soil probing will be used at all
sites to aid in field investigations of evapotranspiration
and soil moisture deficits.

2. FURROW & CORRUGATION IRRIGATION PROGRAM is used on
a before (present) situation and on an after (projected)
situation to estimate changes in deep percolation, runoff,
and efficiency. FURCAL program is not used due to the type
of irrigation practices used in the project area.

3. An Irrigation Water Management Information Sheet is
to be filled out on all contracts, showing present
conditions.

4. An Irrigation Water Management Specialist was hired
on this last fall. This specialist will work closely with
the Extension Agent assigned to the Salinity Staff and the M
& E Team Leader to correlate any and all data collected and
usable for IWM. The IWM Specialist will use this data to
help the farmers with their irrigation water management
problems and to train the salinity Planners on IWM..

<\'1
aC\.v}.
