San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
June 1998

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of June was computed to
be 146 acre-feet (AF) as shown in Table 3, There were 2900 AF net San Juan-Chama
(SJ-C) losses, as shown in Table 2. There was 28598 AF diverted through Azotea
Tunnel this month,

There was a total of 276 AF of Natural (RG) released from Heron. There was no SJ-
C water released from Heron, There were no SJ-C releases from El Vado.

There was 16654 AF of SJ-C water released from Abiquiu, of which 5597 AF were
released from the City of Albuquerque pool for use by the MRGCD. The remaining
11057 AF was released from the City of Albuquerque pool in support of Middle Rio
Grande Valley water management.

There was 0.03 inches of precipitation at Heron Reservoir, which is 3%'of the
April (running) average of 0.91 inches. The monthly computations for Heron
Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3. Table 1 shows large negative tributary'
inflows above Heron Reservoir. The reported numbers are most likely in error.
Our Albuquerque and Chama Offices are investigating this matter and will revise
these amounts once the cause of these anomalies has been determined.

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 1792 AF. There were
29 AF of losses on the reservoir. Table 4 summarizes San Juan-Chama water at
Otowi.

Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez
Canyon Reservoirs, and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C. Storage and
evaporation of Rio Grande water in El Vado and Abiquiu Reservoirs are shown in
Table 6.

All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected and
analyzed.
