002584

$133. A construction cost estimate breakdown may be found in Appendix

A.

2.5 ALTERNATIVE D: Dam 1,3 Miles (2.1 km) North of Taylor Draw;
Crest EI, 5321 (1622 m)

2,5.1 Location and General Description

2.5.1.1 The Alternative D dam site is located approximately 1.3 miles
(2,1 km) North of Taylor Draw. This dam site was examined as an
alternative to the appl icants proposed site when the feasibility study
for Taylor Draw was written in 1979,

2.5.1,2 The capacity of the reservoir would be 8900 acre-feet
(10.9xI06m3) at the normal high water line elevation of 5322 feet MSl
(1622 m), The surface area of the reservoir at high water would be
approximately 445 acres (180 ha), The crest elevation of the dam
would be 5333 feet MSL (1625 m), Recreation and flood control
benefits would be essentially the same as Alternative A.

2.5,1.3

Alternative D would require approximately 3 miles of

telephone line relocation, Approximately 2100 feet (638 m) of
Colorado Highway 64 would need to be relocated upstream of the Staley
Gordon Mine Bridge,

2,5.2 Construction Methods, Features and Schedules

2.5.2,1 Dam Design The dam height for Alternative D is
approximately 58 feet (17,7 m) from the stream bed to the top of the
dam, Approximately 173,000 cubic yards (132,267 m3) of material would
be used in the dam construction. The outlet works would consist of a
6-foot (1.83 m) diameter modified horseshoe tunnel tenminating into a
stilling basin similar to Alternative A. The construction schedule
would be the same as Alternative A. Figure 2 - 5 depicts the dam
concept and features.

25
