000786 c. Public Involvement. After the BLM has preparec a preliminary list of wilderness study areas, it will be discussed in public meetings. The purpose of these meetings will be to review the inventory that has been completed and determine if any additions of deletions should be made based solely on criteria given in section 2(c) of the Wilderness Act. Inability to attend any of these meetings should not prevent anyone from offering comment or opinion. Public comment, either written or verbal, is encouraged at all times. Maps and narratives will be available for public review at the meeting, including: (1) road inventory and trans- portation plan, (2) map showing road less areas in relation to the rest of the inventory area, (3) map showing residual wilderness study areas with " , narrative of the wilderness characteristics or situation found that quali- fied or disqualified areas, and (4) map showing the entire area inventoried. d. Wilderness Study Area List. Ut~lizing the above procedures, following the public comment period, the wilderness inventory will be ,. finalized. State Directors will approve the final wilderness study area inventory for their respective States. Once an area has been finally listed as a wilderness study area, it will be carried forward through the wilderness study area evaluation process and reported to the President. A list, referenced to a map, showing name and acres involved, will be published for public distribution and information. The published list will be kept current with the status of the inventory and congressional action on wilderness reports. The list and map will be maintained on a Statewide basis, including any interstate or interagency wilderness study area. 23
