The Division of Colorado River Resources also presented

testimony to the House and Senate Subcommittees in support of

fundin9 to achieve prompt and diligent action on projects and

programs to control the salinity of the Colorado River.

We believe the Draft Environmental Statement properly

addresses, in a comprehensive manner, the entire Colorado River

Water Quality Improvement Program as identified in Public Law 93-320.

We endorse such an approach, subject to submittal and analyses of

additional or supplemental data, where appropriate, on ind~vidual

features, because it displays the environmental implications of

the entire program and yet allows complete analyses where complete

data and planning information is available, as is the case with

the Las Vegas Wash a,ld Crystal Geyser Units.

Our review of the Draft Envi-ronmental Statement Indicates

that there is overall favorahle impact to mC!.n and his envirOiln!eht

that would result from the full imple1Uentation of the Wat'ei!' ,Quality

Improvement Program. More specifically, the maintenance of salinity

at or below 1972 levels in, the Colorado River would have a positive

quality impact on water diverted from Lake Mead and delivered to

water users in the, Las Vegas Valley and Boulder C~ty through the

e~isting Southern Nevada Water System and proposed Second Stage,

the Basic Management System, Boulder City supply system, and

individual water users diverting water from Lake Mead and the

Colorado River.
