Upon receipt of <br />such comments, the report will be transmitted to the Congress. <br /> <br />Plans for Gunnison-Arkansas Proiect <br /> <br />29. Mr. Powell stated that work on the reports for the Gunnison- <br />Arkansas Project was scheduled as follows: <br /> <br />(a) November 3-6, 1947, a board of engineers from the Branch <br />of Design and Construction will review the estimates of.construction <br />cost. <br /> <br />(b) January 1, 1948, the status report will be completed and <br />transmitted from the Pueblo office. <br /> <br />(c) April 1948 - an interim report, aescribing a proposed <br />initial unit will be completed and transmitted from the Pueblo office, <br /> <br />30. Mr, Powell briefly described the plan for initial development to <br />be presented in the interim report. The plan involves diversion of 65,000 <br />acre-feet of water in a period such as 1929-40, inclusive, from Frying Pan <br />River (Colorado River watershed) .to the. Arkansas River Basin; and a system <br />of regulating reservoirs, canals and power plants in the Arkansas watershed, <br />The primary purposes of the project are to furnish municipal water, supple- <br />mental irrigation supplies, and permit power development. .The tentatively <br />selected features and the estimated construction costs.involved in the initial <br />project are tabulated as follows (costs as of July 1947, rounded to nearest <br />$100,000): (Note:.
