<br />26. Mr. Larson stated that the Colorado River Basin States Committee
<br />had under discussion the use of C,H.D. and other funds for investigation
<br />of potential projects within the Upper Colorado River Basin, Since the
<br />efforts of the Basin States Committee may have some influence on the amount
<br />of funds that will be available to conduct investigations in Western Colorado,
<br />he suggested that the work of the Steering Committee will need be coordinated
<br />with the Colorado River Basin States Committee. Mr, Larson informed the
<br />committee that in the future Mr. Jex will need to devote a considerable share
<br />of his time to preconstruction organization on the Paonia Project. To
<br />strengthen the project planning activities of the Grard Junction 'office, Hr.
<br />Philip Smith had been assigned to that office.

<br />near future two types of reports for both the Blue-South Platte and the
<br />'Gunnison-Arkansas Projects:

<br />(a) A status report, which is primarily.for the information
<br />of the Commissioner, to present the present status of the project
<br />investigations, show the present concept of the ultimate project
<br />possibilities, and outline the remaining work to be performed,
<br />

<br />28. Folowing considerable discussion regarding the desirability of
<br />having the Steering Committee and the .State of Colorado kept informed during
<br />the progress of the investigations. and reView the reports before they are
<br />prepared in final form, the following procedure was suggested by Mr. Batson.
<br />The suggested procedure is. acceptable to the Steering Committee,
<br />
<br />(a) Informal contacts between Ule field offices and the State
<br />Water Conservation Board have been made during the course of the
<br />investigations and this procedure should be continued.
