Bureau studies indicate that such. statements are gross
exaggerations as much of the land reported to be served is non-araele
with shallow soil to sandstone and shale. Mr. Jex reported that the
officials of the Gunnison Watershed Conservation Committee have on two
occasions been invited to make a field trip of inspection over the lower
basin, By means of such an inspection trip and' an explanation of the
plan of development now under consideration by the Bureau, it was felt
much of the present opinions of the members of the committee could be
corrected and that support of a basin development could be secured from
not only interests of the lower basin but those of the upper basin as
well.

.:'.

~i;:j~;!'

'. ::...:.:~<

J
:..,:::1

Next Meetin//:

37, The next meeting of the Steering Committee will be held January 6
and 7, 1948, in Denver, Colorado.
