3

.

.

Estimated Yearly Costs:

Superintendent (Fish Cu1turist II or equivalent)
Helper (Fish Culturist I or equivalent)
Utilities
Feed
Misc. Operations (gas, supplies, etc.)

$22,044
16,896
35,000
3,500
7,000

$80,940

If helper not hired ful1time, salary would be about $6,373. Feed amount
figured on the cost of pe1leted broodfish feed and full production.

No cost was figured for obtaining the fish from the wilds if these costs are
to be charged to the unit.

Disadvantages:

l. We will more or less be at the mercy of the power plant. If they decide
to shut down the unit we are receiving our hot water from, there wouldn't
be much we could do about it. We would have to have a strong commitment
from them.

2. What concessions will the Division of Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service have to make for the use of these facilities?

3. If pond culture becomes necessary, it will be difficult to place them
close to the hatchery buildings.

It would be better if the unit was located on state or federal land.

It seems, for the present, that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

-
