PROBLEM SUMMARIES - GROUP A <br /> <br />This chapter contains lists of all problem areas, by States with <br />ASA's identified. It also contains a table relating to problem issues <br />and effects far each Group A area problem, followed by descriptions. <br />A Regional Map showing the location of Group A problem Areas is included. <br /> <br />COLORADO' <br /> <br />The boundary between Problem Areas 2 and 3 herein is 'slightly <br />different than that in Activity 2. Problem Area 2 has been changed <br />to the Rio Grande watershed above the ~tream gage on the river six <br />miles uostream of Del Norte, and Probl.em Are\, 3. is. the watershed below <br />the stream gage. See the Regional Map. <br /> <br />. . <br />ASA 1301 is the headwater drainage ,of the Rio Grande 'in Colorado, <br />and includes all of A1amosa, Conejos, Costilla an4 R,io Grande Counties; <br />parts of Saguache, Mineral and Hinsdale Cpunties; 'and' a very smallpor.,. <br />tion of Archuleta and San Juan, CQunties. It isbounaed onthe north <br />and wes!: by the Continental Divide and the SanJuan Mountains, the <br />north and east by the Sangr~ ,de Cristo ~ountains, and the State of <br />New Mexico to the south. Elevations of. the highest mountains are' <br />over 14,000' feet and average about 7,760 .,fee,t in the va}ley (San. <br />Luis ,Valley). _ThE!Jlydr()logic area of ASA~1301 'is ,about\5,OOO,OOO <br />acres of which 1,882,000 acres are in the, Closed B-asin (Prab1em Area <br />1).
