An ongoing study by the U. S.
Geological Survey to obtain data on which to base periodic evaluation
of reservoir depletion due to withdrawals of supply wells in the
White Sands Missile Range Post Headquarters area. This study will
evaluate approaches for the most economical recovery of the maximum
available fresh-water supply.

5. Stratigraphy and groundwater hydrology of the Capitan Lime-
stone and associated formation in southeastern New Mexico and western
Texas. A study by the U. S. Geological Survey to determine if large
amounts of water withdrawn from the Capitan Limestone for oil produc-
tion and oil field secondary recovery will affect prior water commit-
ments of the Pecos River and several basins declared by the New Mexico
State Engineer.

6. Geology and groundwater resources of the Sandia, Manzanita,
and Manzano Mountains. A study by the U. S. Geological Survey and
the New Mexico Bureau of Mines to obtain data on geology and water
resources so that adequate water supplies can be developed for
small communities, homes, and industry.

7. Water Resources of Santa Fe~o~Qty~ New Mexico. A study
by the U. S. Geological Survey to obtain basic and quantitative
geohydrologic data upon which to evaluate aquifer yields" chemical
quality of water, relationship between surface and ground water,
and effects of water-use developments in Santa Fe County.

8. A comprehensive study of the water resources of the Lower
Rio Grande Valley area, New Mexico. An ongoing study by the U. S.
Geological Survey to evaluate resource development and management
plans which will aid the city of Las Cruces to plan for orderly
development of municipal supplies. This study will also evaluate
the availability, quantity, quality, and uses of ground and sur-
face water in relation to design and operation of a combined
ground and surface-water system for irrigation.

9. Reconnaissance study of water resources available to
urban areas. An ongoing study by the U. S. Geological Survey to
determine if suitable supplies of water for municipal and indus-
trial uses, projected against anticipated future population growth,
will be available when needed in certain urban areas. This study
will also define influences that may affect future quality and
quantity of available water.

10. Hydrologic investigations related to a radioactive wastes
repository in salt beds in southeastern New Mexico. A study by
the U. S. Geologi.ca1 Survey and the Sandia L"boratories, to
evaluate a potential reposi.tory for radioactive wastes in salt
beds in southeastern New Mexico.
