.

\oooA
e
~
~

e'

.

ANTICIPATED EFFECTS OF ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENTS (continued)

diversions to the Centrsl Arizona Project will be limited to assure prior
water users of their entitled diversions from the Colorado River mainstream
water. A maKimum of 2.2 mi II ion acre-feet (2700 K 106m3) of Co lor ado
River water is all that could be diverted with a canal capacity of 3,000
ft3/s (B5 m3/s).

Contracts - Boulder Canyon Project. Separate contracts have been
signed with the city of Kingman, Arizona, the Lake Havasu Irrigation and
Drainage District, and the Mohave Valley Irrigation and Drainage District
for diversion, respectively" of IB ,500 acre-feet, 14,500 acre-feet and
51,000 acre-feet (23 K 100m3, IB K 106m3, and 63 K 106m3) annually.
As a result of terms in the Mohave Valley Irrigation and Drainage Districts
contract, they will lose 10,000 acre feet (12 K 106m3) of their diversion.
The 10,000 acre-feet (12 K 106m3) will be used for municipal and industrial
and irrigation purposes on lands not part of Mohave Valley Irrigation and
Drainage District.

At the present time the city of Kingman does not divert Colorado
River water nor are there plans to divert Colorado River water in the
near future. It has been anticipated that there will be no use of their
contract water until 1990. From 1990 to 2000 it was assumed they will
develop 9,250 acre-feet (11 000 K 106m3) of their contract water.

The Lake Havasu Irrigation and Drainage District used 7,77! acre-
feet (10 K 106m3) of water in 1976 according to the Arizona v. California
Decree accounting of the waters of the Colorado River. It is anticipated
that 14,500 acre-feet (18 x 106m3) of water use will be developed by the
District by 1990, which will mean an additional detletion of 1,600 acre-
feet (2 x 106m3) by 19BO and 5,100 acre-feet (6 x 10 m3) by 1990.

In 1976 the decree account ing shows that Mohave Valley Irrigat ion
and Drainage District used 14,59B acre-feet (IB K 106m3). The 1976
decree account ing, however, does not show the total use of water wi thin
the District. The 1978 decree accounting of approKimately 19,100 acre-
feet (24 x 106m3) for the District reflects the total use of water while
there was little change in irrigated acreage from 1976. It is anticipated
that half of the remaining 21,900 acre-feet (27 x 106m3) or 10,950 acre-
feet (14 x 106m3) of use will be developed by 1990 and an additional
10,950 acre-feet (14 x 106m3) of use will be developed by the year 2020.
Of the 10,000 acre-feet (12 x 106m3) of water formerly under contract to
the District, it is anticipated there will be a use of 2,200 (3 x 106m3) by
19BO with full development of the use of the 10,000 acre-feet (12 x 106m3)
by 2020.

Colorado River Indian Reservation. The Colorado River Indian Reserva-
tion is located along the Colorado River just below Parker Dam, Arizona,
with most of the land in Arizona and the remainder in California. The
Supreme Court Decree allocated 717,14B acre-feet (BB5 x 106m3) of diversons
to the Colorado River Indisn Reservation for irrigation of 107,5BB acres
(43 500 ha) of land. There are 99,375 acres (40 217 ha) of land in
Arizona, of which 72,377 acres (29 291 ha) have been developed and 8,213

59
