We discuss these and other factors that influence the local inflows in the <br />following sections. <br /> <br />V LOCAL INFLOW RELATIONSHIPS <br /> <br />V.l . Irrigation Return Flows vs Local Inflow <br /> <br />It has long been recognized that the majority of local inflow in the Grand Valley area can <br />be attributed to irrigation return flows or irrigation waste flows. Hydrosalinity studies <br />performed to support the 1979 Definite Plan Report of the Stage 1 Grand Valley Salinity <br />U nit presented water budgets for the area that indicate 70 percent to 80 percent of the <br />hundreds of thousands of acre-feet of irrigation water diverted in the Grand Valley area <br />return to the river system. A pattern of local inflows determined for the Hydrosalinity <br />studies is shown in Figure 7. <br />
