O~1614

.

This supplement to Appendix A, April 1961, sets forth the
revIsions necessituted by the modifications, develops the resulting
hydrologic effects and provides the framework for relating the
economic evaluation to the water-supply.

A modified operation study was developed to show water supply
available to each ditch with the project operating under these new
criteria. The purpose of this "Supplement" is to present and explain
the modified or supplemental study. Results of the supplementa:
study have been used to compute payment capacity indexes for each
ditch--see Appendix B, Agricultural Economics.

Total project diversion found in the supplemental study was
virtually equivalent to the Appendix A values. Therefore the
Appendix A evaluations for return flow and effect on John Martin
Reservoir are still appropriate.

The supplemental studies were placed on a calendar year basis,
while Appendix A studies are on a water year basis. This should be
kept in mind for all comparisons of the studies. Table 1 shows the
acreage served by each ditch and its percentage of the total subarea
acreage.

.

Table l.--Percentages used for determination
of individual ditch requirements

Subarea

Trinidad
to
Hoehne

Model

Hoehne
to
Alfalfa

Ditch Acres Percent
Baca 2,428 19.2
Chilili 114 0.9
South Side 6,381 50.3
El Mora 160 1.2
Johns Flood 2,076 16.4
Hoehne 1,520 12.0
-
Total 12,679 100.0
Model 6,177 100.0
Burns-Duncan 322 37.4
Lewelling-McCormick 378 43.9
Salas 161 18.7
Total 861 100.0
Total (all ditches) 19,717

.

2
