S. Army Corps of Engineers to protect the quality of tile waters of the <br /> <br />United States against environmentally harmful discharges of dredged or fill materials. <br /> <br />While the regulation clarifies and expands for pollution control the long-established <br /> <br />Corps jurisdiction making it parallel to the coverage of the Environmental Protection <br /> <br />Agency, many less harmful activities are excluded to produce a workable program. <br /> <br />The final regulation, which was developed in close cooperation with the Environmental <br /> <br />for the District of Columbia issued on March 27, 1975. <br /> <br />Some 4,500 comments recei ved on the draft regu lati On publ i shed last May 6 have been <br /> <br />considered in the preparation of the interim final rules. <br /> <br />Assistant Secretary of the Army, Victor V.
