<br />PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE <br /> <br />The Public Affairs Committee <br />I recommended [0 the Board that <br />I the District should innstigate <br />further the possibility of becom- <br />ing involved Vo;th the Utah Association of <br />Special Districts. The Utah Association of <br />Special Districts is a lobbying concern and <br />watch dog of legislati....e matters. <br />Activities scheduled around Utah <br />\Vater \Veek, May 2 . 8, were held to <br />promote public awareness of the water <br />benefits and sen.'ices rendered by the <br />water industry. <br />The District's educational program con. <br />tinued in supplying the teachers and <br />students with educational information as <br />it relates to water reclamation and conser- <br />varion and the Central Utah Project. The <br />program is oriented to serve 12 counties <br />within the Central Utah Water Conser- <br />vancy District area. The District also <br />participated .....'ith the State in sponsoring <br />water educational programs that were <br />directed by the Division of Water <br />Resources. The District participated in <br />the Governor's Conference on Water <br />Education and the State \Vater Education <br />Plan_ <br />Tours of the Central Utah Project out- <br />lining the various features and aspects of <br />its operation were conducted throughout <br />the year. These tours are primarily {)rgan- <br />ized to improve the awareness and know_ <br />ledge of the Central Utah Project and <br />District operations. <br />Meetings with various county commis- <br />sioners, state legislators and congressional <br />representatives were held to respond to <br />their questions and update them on Pro- <br />ject activities. The }ordanelle Dam display <br />has been exhibited throughout the Project <br />area and was accompanied by brochures <br />and handout material. <br /> <br />An aggressive news release program was <br />initiated during the year \\.'ith numerous <br />articles being published throughout the <br />State in several daily and weekly pub. <br />lications. <br />The District Public Affairs Committee <br />participated in the Sundance Institute <br />day-long seminar and discussed the <br />important mallers of the Central Utah <br />Project and its involvement with the <br />State. <br />The Governor's press conference was <br />held on October 18, where all three living <br />Utah Governors attended and expressed <br />their support for the completion of the <br />Central Utah Project and continued <br />funding from the United States Congress. <br /> <br />, <br />7 <br />
