<br />USBR <br /> <br /> <br />li <br /> <br />Municipal and Industrial System February, 1989 <br /> <br />Jordanelle Dam ~ General <br /> <br />Meetings '....ere held January 17.19, 1989, with Stichtings. Delft <br />Gemechnics. Utah State Health Department, Wasatch County, and <br />Bingham Engineering regarding stabilization and consolidation of the <br />Mayflo,....er and Olson/Neihan tailin~s. Technical reports were <br />reviewed and accepted. Negotiations were initiated with Stichtings for a <br />new agreement to further develop designs and specifications to <br />consolidate the Olson/~eihart tailings at the Mayflower tailing site. <br />Meeting were held January 13,20. and H. 1989, with United States <br />Geological Survey and Hill Air Force Base. to initiate assistance for a <br />hazardous waste site remedial investigation/feasibility study for a site at <br />Hill Air Force Ba'-C. <br /> <br />Diamond Fork Power System <br /> <br />Syar Tunnel <br /> <br />Crews have excavated approximately oJ25 feet of the tunnel, using <br />drill and blast procedures. Structural steel ribs were installed on oJ-foot <br />centers throughout the outlet reach portion of the tunnel (380 feet). <br />Crews installed 6-foot rock bolts with pans in the last 50 feet, where the <br />tunnel boring machine will be assembled. The tunnel invert was <br />cleaned and the first lift of backfill concrete was placed. <br />A foundation pad was excavated for the battery building. Crews <br />continued various electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work for the <br />water treatment facilities and in the shop-warehouse and portal areas. <br /> <br />Stra\\'bcrry Aqueduct and Collection System <br />Upper Stillwater Dam <br />\Vork on repair of cracks in Upper Stillwater Dam was resumed <br />January 13. 1989, after being shut down December 20, 1988, due to the <br />unavailability of resin. The contractor completed sealing the 3-inch <br />drain hole. drilled and grouted hole C-A with cement-water grout, and <br />backfill grouted four holes with ST.;10 resin. <br />Monitoring of turbidity in Upper Stillwater Reservoir and in Rock <br />Creek is being performed monthly. Fishery and aquatic habitat <br />evaluations are continuing. Procedures to obtain approval for storage <br />and diven.ions to Strawberry Aqueduct this spring are nearing <br />completion. <br /> <br />= <br />~ <br />J)--u <br />
