SINBAD VALLEY FEASIBILITY STUDY

Alternatives

Six alternatives that would result in a salt reduction from Sinbad Valley to
the Colorado River system were investigated. A description and conceptual
1 ayout of each alternative follows.

1. Sinbad Evaporation.

This alternative would include a cut off wall just downstream of where the
springs emerge, a pumping plant at the cut off wall, and a pipeline from
the pumping plant to evaporation ponds located in Sinbad Valley. A
transmission line would be built from Uravan, and power would be purchased
from San Miguel Power Company at commercial rates or if available from the
Colorado River Storage Project system.

Construction would take about 1 year.

SIN BAD
VALLEY
r

#;~~CutOff
~vap,o/r/o!IP-'il Wall
1~ton~~ SQI' 'l)
~~;:..- Pumping ~
,.,

..

SINBAO
EVAPORATION
ALTERNATIVE
#1

c:,
~
,..
~
'l)
..,
'"

002194

3
