are 13 miles of p1p1ng on the west side and 19 miles on the
east side of the valley. All structures in the improved system
would be replaced. A total of about 6,880 structures and about
86,000 acres of land would be affected. Wildlife measures
include acquisition of 4,614 acres of land for wet land habitat
and construction of 15 deer escape ramps along the South Canal.
Where field conditions warrant, more flexible lining such as
earth could be used and where more practical, other lining
measures could be implemented in lieu of concrete.

Plan A-2 Concrete line all canals and laterals on the east side of the
Uncompahgre Valley, a total of 254 miles of the system including
the Loutzenhizer, Selig, East, and Garnet Canal systems in addi-
tion to the remaining unlined reaches of the South Canal. All
structures in the improved system would be replaced. About
32,400 acres of project lands would be affected as would 3,040
structures. About 2,121 acres of land would be acquired for
wetland habitat and 15 deer escape ramps would be constructed
along the South Canal. Where field conditions warrant, a more
flexible lining would be used in place of concrete.

Plan B

Plan C

Plan D

Plan E

Plan F

The features of plan B are identical to those of plan A-2 except
that plan B includes 19 miles of piping in place of open concrete
section.

Concrete line deteriorated parts of the Uncompahgre Project distri-
bution system amounting to about 98 miles located on both sides of
the valley. In addition, all structures in the entire system would
be replaced. About 10,000 acres of project lands would be affected
by development of the plan and about 829 acres of wetland habitat
would be required for mitigation of wetland losses.

Earth line 514 miles of the West, Montrose and Delta, and Ironstone
canal systems on the west side, and the South, Loutzenhizer,
Selig, East, and Garnet systems on the east side of the Uncompahgre
Valley. Also included are 13 miles of piping on the west side of
the valley and 19 miles on the east side of the valley. Concrete
would be placed in laterals with less than 50-c.f.s. capacity
exclusive of those sections to be placed in pipe. All structures
in the improved portion of the system would be replaced and a
total of about 7,600 structures and 86,000 acres of lands would
be affected. wildlife measures consist of acquisition of 4,614
acres of land for mitigation of wetland habitat losses.

Earth line 254 miles of canals and laterals on the east side of
the valley and place pipe in 19 miles of the system. In laterals
with capacities of 50 c.f.s. or less, pipe would be installed in
place of concrete. All structures in the improved part of the
system would be replaced. About 32,400 acres of land would be
affected together with 3,040 structures. About 2,121 acres of
land would be acquired for wetland habitat.

"Future without" alternative. No salinity funds would be
expended. This alternative assumes that due to operation and
maintenance and rehabilitation and betterment programs and
irrigation management, some salinity reduction would occur'000915

16
